Imagination Library Champions – Parent Partnership Book Chatter Training

Would you like to help parents to understand the importance of sharing books and ways they can make it fun? You could be an Imagination Library Champion!

Outline

Please be aware that this training consists of two sessions - delegates must attend both sessions.

Sessions will include;
Demonstrations and practical ideas for making book sharing fun and engaging for the children and families.

FREE resource packs to enhance your book sharing sessions. The session now includes ideas and information on developing Book Clubs in Primary Schools and Out of School Clubs.

Description

The aims of training sessions are:
  • to share key strategies that will support “book chatter” and enhance early language learning experiences
  • to value and celebrate the importance of sharing books with families
  • to explore a range of ideas for fun activities to enhance book sharing in sessions


Candidates must attend both sessions.

This training will provide an opportunity for delegates to alongside their volunteers or other staff from their setting. The volunteers/staff will become Imagination Library Champions in their locality and support the Lead Champions to run sessions for families.

Outcomes

To raise attainment in communication and literacy development for children by developing parents/carers knowledge and building their confidence to support the home learning environment.

Champions will help parents with practical ideas and encouragement to get the most from
sharing books with their children. The session now includes ideas and information on
Book Clubs for Primary Schools and Out of School Clubs.
